Emily Playing Kickball…
She did it! She played kickball, with no help from Mom or Dad! She even slid to home base…okay she fell…but it looked like she was sliding!! Chris took some pretty good pictures, Which I will post.
Family Update
a>Hi everyone,
Well I started this new blog, as part of an online class assignment, but I actually thought it might be a nice way to keep everyone up-to-date on what is going on in our exciting lives..okay not so exciting..but usually fun.
Emily is currently in tot-kickball, and the first week didn’t go so well, she wouldn’t even get out and play. The 2nd week Auntie Pam took her, and she kicked the ball…and ran the bases. Auntie Pam said she was one of the best kickers out there. Poor Pam got her work out, because Emily made her run every base with her! Chris and I are looking forward to taking her this week, and hopefully she will give it her best!
Emily has also been going to storytime every week -and really enjoys it! We have made progress with her sitting on the carpet (instead of my lap). Emily is pretty shy when it comes to group things – so we are doing as much as we can to get her involved with other kids. She is great once she is comfortable with them – but the intial process is difficult.
For those of you who weren’t at her birthday – she had a great time. She had a beautiful fairy cake…and had fun playing with her sidewalk chalk with Darrell. I will have to get some pictures loaded up.
As for Chris and I…in case you were interested. We are keeping busy…Chris is now on graveyard as a mechanic, and he loves his job. Graveyard is nice because he is home in the evenings…but tough on him…because sleeping during the day is difficult.
I am currently not only working at Kaiser in my full-time job, but have been recently appointed to the Lodi Library Board of Trustees. This is a really interesting task, and I am learning so much about how these things work, and all the rules and guidelines. It is great to have a say in the future of our local library, a place where both Emily and I love to go. I hope that it will become a place that she loves and respects.
Well that is all for now…I will post again soon.
Since this is a mixed blog – work and play…you will get to see some interesting/or not so interesting posts about a recent online class I am taking. Medical Libraries 2.0
RSS Feeds and My Library
I think RSS feeds can be a great way to keep current on the literature. We can show users how to set up RSS feeds in Pubmed for reoccuring searches, Table of Contents etc. We can also use it to PUSH info to our users. As or user become more tech savvy we need to be right there with them, giving them the information they need.
We are currently in the process of setting up a Blog to inform our patrons of exciting new services provided by our Library.
First Post
Welcome to my New Blog. I am looking forward to expanding it, and letting you know what is going on in my world.
