Social Networking Sites
I think that these sites have the potential to connect people, and help you network, or keep up with old friends. I prefer Linkedin and Facebook, they seem to be more focused at networking, and less on being a teen 
I think you do have to be vary careful with privacy. We know that many kids have gotten in trouble with MySpace, and that their comments and pictures, which have followed them all the way to their college applications and job interviews.
I think that Social Networking can be useful for some aspects of a public library, I am not sure I see the use in a small special Library setting.
